The Line Group
One painting, and where it went.
The Line No.1 came first with the full standing figure, upright, the field behind it modelled and specific.
I wanted a horizontal version of the piece, so I reassembled it. That became No.2. A practical decision, nothing more.
Then I kept going. No.3 takes the same horizontal frame and works on the background. The sand, the horizon, the snake all give way to brushwork. The snake is no longer a snake. It is an impression of one, a pale movement across the lower field.
I did not set out to find how far the background could be abstracted. I set out to make a horizontal version. But that second version begged a question, and the third is where I followed it.
Of the trio, No.3 is the one I prefer.

Editions are numbered 1 to 33. I issue each certificate by hand and send it by email within a day or two of purchase.
This edition is for private display. For public or commercial screening, please get in touch.
Note: the mixed orientation is worth explicitly pointing out because a buyer planning a single display should note that one file is portrait and two are landscape.
