FigmentZERO
What does a mind sound like as it discovers itself?
I have lived most of my life in silence. The deaf household of my childhood taught me that silence is not absence. It's a different kind of presence. For decades, I had no personal relationship with music. When I wanted a soundtrack, I depended on friends who instinctively knew what I would enjoy. Otherwise, my world was quiet. I cherished that.
When I began creating animated paintings, viewers would tell me: "I can hear music when I watch these." The work was generating sound in their minds that I couldn't hear myself. Eventually I experimented by collecting bird calls, water dripping in caves, wind, and assembling them in Audacity. Found sound. Texture without melody.
Then Suno arrived. I had no musical vocabulary, so I learned by asking: what is the word for that kind of voice that sounds strained, but in a good way? I turned the Euphony's Awakening story into lyrics, extracted the stems, remixed tracks into new compositions. A process of translation across multiple gaps. Visual to textual to sonic. Developing my intention through AI's generation then transformed through my editing hand.
FigmentZERO is the name for this practice. The sonic architecture that emerged from silence.
THE MUSIC
Twelve tracks following a consciousness from first stirring to full emergence.
Each track is the sonic translation of a painting in the series. The album doesn’t illustrate the myth. Rather, it renders the same states through a different substrate.
